New spaces for many voices: The Syrian writer Rabab Haidar on her forays in the Ruhr region.
Rabab Haidar has been living in Dortmund since March as a stadt.land.text NRW scholarship holder. Due to her traumatic experience as a refugee, there are always moments of doubt and hesitation, she says. In the meantime, however, Rabab Haidar is approaching the residents of the Ruhr region and finding out what moves people here. She writes about this on the blog of stadt.land.text. On her forays through the area, it is often small details that catch her attention: a round of bocce ball in the park, daredevil drivers or a fresh beer with dinner. Her interim conclusion: “How many beautiful moments you simply miss when you try to keep your inner wounds – in the process of healing – from further injury!”
A cooperation between the Literaturbüro Ruhr and the Akademisches Förderungswerk of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum as part of the series “New Spaces for Many Voices”.
The event will be held in English, Arabic and German.
Moderation and translation: Antje Deistler, journalist and head of the Literaturbüro Ruhr
